After obtaining
his elementary education in Germany (Konrad Adenauer Gymnasium, Bonn)
he obtained his B.Sc. in Economics with specialization in International
Economics at the University of Buenos Aires. During this time he
worked as junior economist at local macroeconomic consulting firm,
Ecoplan. As post-graduate studies he attended during 1995/96 the
Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research at
the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany, for which he obtained
a scholarship for his outstanding performance. During 1996/97, he
attended the MSc. in Finance and Economics at the London School of
Economics.
Fernández Medrano
worked from October 1997 to April 2000 at the NYC office of IDEAGlobal
as country economist for Latin America. There he was responsible for
the coverage of Argentina and Chile, while he also participated in the
coverage of Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. After returning to Buenos Aires
he worked as Senior Economist at Estudio M.A.M. Broda & Asoc, an
economic and financial consulting firm. During 2001 he accepted the
position as senior advisor at the Cabinet of Economic Advisors of the
Ministry of Economy.
During his
studies he was also assistant lecturer at the University of Buenos
Aires in the courses of Comparative Economic Systems and Statistics II.
